COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fifteen members of the UNLV women's soccer team were named to the 2001 Academic All-Mountain West Conference team by the league office.
Headlining the scholar-athletes for the Rebels were seniors Marni Polakow (Buffalo Grove, Ill.) and Janae Sims (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.), both making their third consecutive appearance on the conference academic team. Polakow, a kinesiology major at UNLV with an impressive 3.76 grade-point average, was also named to the Verizon / CoSIDA Academic All-District team this past year. Sims, the school's second all-time leading scorer, is a communications major with a 3.33 GPA.
Senior defender Robyn Krivacic (Carrollton, Texas), junior midfielder Cristyn Enea (San Ramon, Calif.) and sophomores Erin Egertson (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and Kelly Oshay (Claremont, Calif.) were repeat selections.
Sixty-seven student-athletes earned MWC academic honors in 2001, including 30 repeat selections from the 2000 squad. UNLV had a league-high 15 student-athletes who qualified for conference academic honors, followed by Utah (14), New Mexico and Wyoming (13), BYU (6), San Diego State (4) and Air Force (3).
