STORYLINE: The UNLV men's golf team heads to Sunriver, Ore., to compete in its third Mountain West Conference Men's Golf Championship this week. The tournament will be played at Sunriver's Crosswater Course (Par 72--7,683 Yards) on Monday, April 29 through Wednesday, May 1, with 18 holes scheduled for each day. The Rebels won the MWC crown in 2000, but slipped to fifth place at last year's tournament.

ABOUT UNLV: The Rebels' spring has been up and down, but most recently is was up. UNLV won the Kepler Intercollegiate in its last outing, shooting eight-over par through the event's first two rounds before the final 18 holes were cancelled due to rain. Clark Corbett tied for second individually while teammates Ryan Moore, Brandon Askew and J.C. Deacon all posted top-10 finishes.

AT THE CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT: Brien Davis is the only Rebel returning to Sunriver this year, where the Rebels will try to improve upon last year's fifth-place finish. At 16-over par, Davis tied for 22nd overall. The rest of the lineup will attempt to recapture the trophy that UNLV first held in 2000 after a 23-stroke victory in Palm Desert, Calif. That victory marked the Rebels' fifth league title in school history (1992, 1993, 1994, 1996, 2000).

THE FIELD: The Mountain West Conference hosts: Air Force, BYU, Colorado State, New Mexico, San Diego State, UNLV, Utah and Wyoming.

THE LINEUP: UNLV's lineup for the Mountain West Conference Championship will be: senior Clark Corbett, junior Brien Davis, sophomore Brandon Askew and freshmen J.C. Deacon, and Ryan Moore.

HEAD COACH DWAINE KNIGHT: UNLV men's golf head coach Dwaine Knight is in his 15th season as the Rebels' skipper. During his tenure, UNLV has been a perennial power with five league championships, 12 NCAA Championship appearances, and the 1998 national title. The only coach in the country to twice claim GCAA National Coach of the Year honors in the 1990s (1991 and 1998), Knight has produced 15 All-Americans and sent four players to the PGA Tour (Jeremy Anderson, Chad Campbell, Ed Fryatt, Chris Riley).
