NORMAN, Okla. - Following his top-10 finish at the NCAA Men's Golf Championship, UNLV freshman Ryan Moore earned both regional and national recognition by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Moore was named to both the Softspikes All-Freshman Team and the PING All-Pacific Region Team, and received honorable mention in the PING All-America balloting, after leading the Rebels this season with a 72.56 stroke average and six top-10 finishes. The Puyallup, Wash., product posted the highest finish of any freshman at the NCAA finals, tying for eighth individually.
Moore, the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year, becomes the first Rebel freshman to earn national acclaim since Chris Riley was chosen the Freshman of the Year by the GCAA in 1993.
He also becomes the 30th golfer coached to All-American honors in head coach Dwaine Knight's 15-year tenure at UNLV. Knight has produced at least one All-American for UNLV each season since 1989.
Moore headlines a cast of four returning starters to next season's Rebel squad.
