Four Rebels Advance at UNLV Women's Tennis Fall Invite

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's tennis team advanced four players into the quarterfinals singles of the UNLV Women's Tennis Fall Invitational Friday.

Sophomore Tracy Chong advanced over Oklahoma State's Kate Vasylyeva, 7-5, 6-1. No. 79-ranked Pauline Janus defeated OSU's Ines Furtmayr. Sophomore Leentjie Oosthuizen defeated Mississippi's Karen Harboe, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, while senior Amy Hadziosmanovic defeated Katie Schurr, who is playing unattached, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

Junior Agnieszka Abram and senior Jackie White both dropped their opening round matches. Abram's fell to San Diego's Catherine Heppell and White dropped her match to OSU's Zana Masnic.

In doubles action, the team of Abram and Janus defeated OSU's Faltynokova and Kolodynska, 8-5. Sophomore Gyorgyi Zsiros and Oosthuizen defeated Kmiec and Balk, playing unattached.

White and Hadziosmanovic fell in the opening round to the unattached team of Schmandt and Klompmaker.

UNLV continues tournament play tomorrow with quarterfinal and semifinal singles action and doubles beginning at 10 a.m.
