Rebels Drop To 12th

ROCKY FACE, Ga. - The UNLV men's golf team shot a final-round 291 to finish in 12th place at the Carpet Capital Collegiate on Sunday.

The Rebels began the day in 10th place at the par-72, 7,010-yard Farm Golf Course, but could manage only a three-over par team round. They finished 19-over par, 30 strokes behind champion Florida.

Individually, Texas' Jason Hartwick won the event by five strokes after a final-round 67.

For the Rebels, Travis Whisman was the best finisher, tying for 21st place at one-over par. Ryan Moore shot even par on Sunday to remain five-over and tie for 40th.

Ryan Keeney and JC Deacon both finished two strokes behind Moore, tied for 46th, and Sam Hunt, who tossed a 74 into the Rebels' team score on Sunday, finished in 65th at 12-over par.

The Rebels return East in just eight days when they head to Birmingham, Ala., to compete in the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate beginning on Oct. 13.
