LAS VEGAS - The 18th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team lost only one set en route to a 7-0 victory over Big West Conference member UC Riverside at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Friday.

The Lady Rebels improved to 3-1 this season and 6-0 all-time in the series while the Highlanders fell to 2-6 overall.

UNLV opened the day by sweeping three doubles matches for one team point. Paulina Janus and Agnieszka Abram won at the top spot 8-0, Tracie Chong and Cindy Treber combined for an 8-4 win at No. 2 and Gyorgyi Zsiros and Amy Hadziosmanovic teamed up for an 8-2 victory on Court Three. In singles play, 85th-ranked Janus won 6-0, 7-6 over Michelle Beyronneau at the top position. No. 120 Gyorgyi Zsiros rallied to force a super-tiebreaker in a 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-6) win over Casey Cross at the second spot.

Also winning for UNLV were Chong at No.3, Abram at No. 4, Treber at No. 5 and Hadziosmanovic on Court Six.

"It felt really good to get another win under our belts," UNLV head coach Kevin Cory said. "I was impressed with the effort of Riverside's top two players. This was a good test heading into Sunday's match."

The Lady Rebels, who will receive their 2002 Mountain West Conference Championship rings in a ceremony at halftime of Saturday's Runnin' Rebel game, continue their homestand vs. San Jose State Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.
