COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Four members of the UNLV women's indoor track and field team qualified for the finals of their respective events on the second day of the 2003 Mountain West Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships held Friday at Cadet Fieldhouse.
Sophomore Brigitte Ladouceur (Cayenne, French Guiana) won the preliminaries of the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 8.46 seconds and also finished eighth in the 400 meter dash (56.98) to move on to tomorrow's finals in both events.
Halima DeCree (Bakersfield, Calif.), a sophomore sprinter for the Rebels, qualified for the finals of the 60 meter dash with a season best time of 7.61 seconds. Teammates Kiyota Reed (Los Angeles) and Miesha McClendon (Pasadena, Calif.) also made the final cut in the 60 meter hurdles event. Reed placed sixth (8.91) and McClendon seventh (8.92).
Through six events scored, BYU leads with 61.50 points, while Colorado State (45), San Diego State (38), New Mexico (33), Utah (26.50), Wyoming (21), Air Force (8) and UNLV (1) round out the field. The Rebels got on the board with an eighth-place finish in the distance medley relay with a time of 13:35.26.
UNLV will conclude competition tomorrow with events beginning at 12:30 p.m. and awards to be handed out at 4 p.m. (MST).
