COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The UNLV women's indoor track and field team finished seventh on the final day of the 2003 Mountain West Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships held Saturday afternoon at Cadet Fieldhouse.
Sophomore Brigitte Ladouceur (Cayenne, French Guiana) claimed the individual title in the women's 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.46 seconds. Teammates Kiyota Reed (Los Angeles) and Miesha McClendon (Pasadena, Calif.), both sophomores, placed third and fourth respectively in the same event. Reed clocked in a season best 8.80 and McClendon an 8.94.
Top five finishes were also made by sophomore Halima DeCree (Bakersfield, Calif.) in the 60 meter dash and senior Tianika Sharrieff (Euless, Texas) in the high jump. DeCree finished fourth with a time of 7.60 seconds and Sharrieff second with a leap of 5-07.75.
Freshman Angie Turner (Las Vegas) turned in a career best throw of 39-05.75 in the shot put event, while senior Jessica Zarndt (Las Vegas) place 13th in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:57.62.
Brigham Young won the women's team title with 179.50 points, followed by San Diego State (119), Colorado State (115), Wyoming (78), Utah (58), New Mexico (49.50), UNLV (37) and Air Force (25).
The Rebels conclude indoor competition for the year and are one week away from the start of the outdoor season. They will next compete in the Ben Brown Invitational on Saturday, March 8 in Fullerton, Calif.
