SAN DIEGO - The 33rd-ranked UNLV's women's tennis team completed a successful road trip by defeating Air Force 6-1 in a neutral-site league battle at the SDSU Tennis Courts Saturday.
The Lady Rebels, who won three times in as many days, improved to 11-2 overall and 2-0 in the Mountain West Conference while the Falcons fell to 10-8 and 0-2.
UNLV took two of the three doubles matches to start the day and earn a 1-0 lead.
Then, winning in singles play for UNLV were Paulina Janus at No. 1, Tracie Chong at No. 3, Agnieszka Abram at No. 4, Cindy Treber at No. 5 and Amy Hadziosmanovic on court six.
The only UNLV blemish came at the second spot where Gyorgyi Zsiros lost for the first time ever in conference play and dropped to just 30-2 all-time in dual matches. The sophomore lost 7-5 in a third-set tiebreaker as Heather Shelby completed the stunner 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 to break Zsiros' 28-match winning streak in duals.
UNLV will play its final non-conference match of the season when it hosts No. 2-ranked Stanford on Tuesday beginning at 2 p.m.
