LAS VEGAS - Enjoying clear and sunny skies, the 24th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team stayed perfect in Mountain West Conference play with a 7-0 whitewash of Wyoming at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Saturday.
The Lady Rebels improved to 13-3 and 4-0 in the MWC while the Cowgirls fell to 7-7 and 0-1.
UNLV began the morning by sweeping three doubles matches for one team point. In singles play, top Lady Rebel Paulina Janus sat out to rest but her team still did not lose a set.
Gyorgyi Zsiros moved up to the top spot and improved to 12-2 in dual matches this spring with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Patricia Chien. Also winning in straight sets for the hosts were Tracie Chong at No. 2, Agnieszka Abram at No. 3, Amy Hadziosmanovic at No. 4, Cindy Treber at No. 5 and Jackie White at No. 6.
UNLV closes out its home schedule Sunday by taking on Colorado State. Three players - Janus, Hadziosmanovic and White - will be honored during senior day festivities just before the match at 10 a.m.
Wyoming will take on No. 33 San Diego State, which was a 5-2 Saturday winner over CSU, also at Fertitta.
