NORMAN, Okla. - UNLV sophomore golfer Ryan Moore was one of five men's collegiate golfers named as a finalist for the prestigious Hogan Award, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced on Friday.
The Hogan Award is presented annually to the top men's collegiate golfer in the country. Joining Moore as finalists were Arizona's Ricky Barnes, Clemson's D.J. Trahan, Oklahoma State's Hunter Mahan and Wake Forest's Bill Haas.
Moore, a native of Puyallup, Wash., earned All-America honors as a freshman last season after posting a top-10 finish at the NCAA Championship. Last summer, he won the U.S. Amateur Public Links and earned a berth to play in The Masters this year. For the season, he has a 70.96 stroke average and five top-10 finishes.
The winner of the Hogan Award will be announced on May 9.
