Zarndt, Suszek Lead The Way

LAS VEGAS - UNLV track & field distance runners Jessica Zarndt and Michele Suszek led the Rebels with individual victories at the Cal State Northridge Six-Way Meet Saturday at the CSUN Track & Field Complex in Northridge, Calif.

Zarndt, a senior, captured the women's 3000-meter run with a time of 10:20.03, placing ahead of second-place finisher Liz Camy of CSUN with a mark of 10:32.85.

Suszek, a sophomore, won the women's 3000-meter steeplechase at 12:00.11, finishing better than San Diego State's Brianne Bricker (12:20.72).

The Rebels also had the top two finishers in the women's javelin as senior Casey Lektorich won the event with a distance of 43.85m and junior Lacey Bridges placed second at 32.91m.

Top five finishers for UNLV were sophomore Halima Decree, who finished fourth in the women's 100-meter dash at 11.69, sophomore Miesha McClendon, who finished fifth in the women's 100-meter hurdles at 14.48, freshman Angie Turner, who finished fifth in the women's shot put with a distance of 11.99m and sophomore Autumn Beza, who finished fifth in the women's javelin at 23.36m.

UNLV's next action will be at the Cal-Nevada Championships on Saturday, April 12, also in Northridge.
