Rebels-Cougars To Know Their ABC

July 11, 2003

LAS VEGAS - UNLV's football game vs. BYU on October 25 has been set for 4 p.m. PDT and will be shown by ABC-TV on a regional basis, the network announced this week.

The selection means that three of the Rebels' 12 games have already been scheduled to be shown by a network. As previously announced, UNLV's game at Wisconsin on September 13 and home game vs. Hawaii on September 19 both will appear live on ESPN2.

UNLV has been on ABC five times in its history with three of those dates coming since 2000 - all at home. One of those was a last-minute 35-31 BYU victory at Sam Boyd Stadium in 2001. During head coach John Robinson's first four seasons at the school, the Rebels were on network television 17 times and televised 33 times overall. Before 1999, UNLV football made 10 network appearances in 32 seasons.

Last year's meeting between the Rebels and Cougars, which was broadcast by SportsWest, saw UNLV's defense forge a 24-3 upset in Provo.

The Rebels open their season by hosting Toledo on August 30 at 7 p.m. PDT. Season tickets are on sale now by calling (702) 739-FANS.
