Rebels Finish Sixth At Tucker

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The UNLV men's golf team shot a final-round 298 and slipped two places to sixth at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate at The Championship Course on Saturday.

The Rebels began the day in fourth place, but lost ground to BYU, which carded the day's best team score at 286, and Texas Tech, which bested the UNLV daily total by three.

Arizona State held on to win the team title, finishing the 54-hole tournament at just one-over par. It defeated the host New Mexico by two strokes.

Individually, New Mexico's Ian Medlock took medalist honors, finishing five-under par.

Leading the way for UNLV was junior Ryan Moore (76-71-74-221), who tied for 30th at five-over par.

Three others in the UNLV lineup tied for 34th place at six-over par. Travis Whisman (T34; 74-75-73-222), JC Deacon (T34; 73-74-75-222) and Ryan Keeney (T34; 74-72-76-222) all shot matching scores while freshman Sam Hunt (T53; 77-72-77-226) finished 10-over par in his collegiate debut.

The Rebels next head to the Preview Invitational, slated for Sept. 22-24 in Hot Springs, Va.
