LAS VEGAS - Four players scored in double figures for the UNLV men's basketball team as it defeated the L.A. Stars 108-82 on Friday night at the Thomas & Mack Center in its first exhibition game of the season.
Louis Amundson led the Runnin' Rebels in scoring with 19 points and was an impressive 9-of-12 from the floor. He also added a team-high tying seven rebounds.
Romel Beck added 17 points, while Odartey Blankson scored 13 and Michael Umeh added 11.
The L.A. Stars had five players score in double figures, led by Jelani Janisse's game-high 23 points, however the team only had seven players on its roster.
UNLV out-rebounded the Stars 52-31 and out-shot L.A. 54 percent to 42. UNLV also tallied 16 more assists than the Stars (28-12) and was led by Jerel Blassingame's 12.
UNLV trailed 6-2 less than a minute into the game, but it was all Runnin' Rebels after that as they went on an 18-4 run and led 20-10 just five minutes into the game.
UNLV led by as many as 27 before the half and went into the break with a 59-36 lead.
The Runnin' Rebels increased their lead to as many as 32 points when they were up 99-67 with just over four minutes to play.
