Rebel Duo Hopes To Shine In Shrine

Nov. 9, 2004

LAS VEGAS - Two UNLV football standouts will be playing in the East-West Shrine Game for the second straight year as the roster for the West Team was released by game organizers on Tuesday.

Two-time consensus league defensive player of the year and 2003 First Team All-America safety Jamaal Brimmer will join the Mountain West Conference's all-time leading tackler, linebacker Adam Seward, in suiting up for the West Team under head coach Mike Riley of Oregon State. The 80th East-West Shrine Game will be played at SBC Park on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. PST, and be shown live on ESPN.

More Rebels (10) have appeared in the East-West Shrine Game than any other national all-star event. Last year, running back Larry Croom and defensive lineman Dietrich Canterberry played for the West, which was coached by Rebel head man John Robinson. Croom, who is now with the NFL's Arizona Cardinals, led all rushers with 63 yards on just nine carries and scored two touchdowns.

This will mark the fifth consecutive year at least one UNLV player will appear in the all-star game, which is played each year to help children receive free medical care at any of the nation's 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children.

The initial East Team roster will be announced next week. Tickets for the 80th East-West Shrine Game can be purchased online at www.tickets.com or by calling (510) 762-2277.
