SATURDAY'S PREVIEW...
UNLV (0-0) opens its 59th season of football by hosting Memphis (0-0) to mark the first time that the Rebels will face a team that is a member of the American Conference at the time of the game ... The Rebels, who have the 10th-most victories in the nation over the last two years, look to continue their record run after having played in the MW Championship Game and appeared in a bowl game for an unprecedented three consecutive seasons ... Including the recent release, UNLV has now received at least one vote in either the AP or Coaches' poll in 35 of the last 37 polls ... The Rebels, who have won four consecutive season-openers and are 2-0 all-time in Week Zero, started last season 9-2 for the third straight year and then earned double-digit victories for only the fourth time in history and first time ever in back-to-back campaigns ... Since falling 35-7 at eventual national champion Michigan in the second game of 2023, UNLV has scored at least 20 points in each of its last 34 regular-season games. That's by far the longest active such streak in the FBS ... The Rebels return 32 lettermen (12 O/19 D/1 ST) and seven starters (3 on each side of the ball plus a PK). That comes just one year after returning only 17 lettermen and the fewest number of starters in the country in 2025 with just TWO ... Including this first-ever regular-season FOX appearance, UNLV will have at least 11 games shown on national TV this fall -- a program record. 

REBELS vs. TIGERS NOTES... 
These teams tangle on the football field for the first time but UNLV head coach Dan Mullen won two previous meetings vs. Memphis while leading Mississippi State (49-7 in 2010 and 59-14 in 2011) ... UNLV hosts an FBS opponent to kick off a season for the first time since welcoming Minnesota to now-shuttered  Sam Boyd Stadium in 2012 ... The Rebels and Tigers have played each other seven times in men's basketball. UNLV holds a 5-2 advantage, including a 92-78 Runnin' Rebel win at Memphis in head coach Josh Pastner's return to the school last November ... Memphis is the first of two games UNLV will play vs. American Conference teams in the first three weeks of 2026 as the Rebels travel to North Texas on Sept. 12 ... UNLV is 5-7 vs. programs that currently make up the league -- but all of those dozen games were vs. members of different conferences at the time of kickoff.
