LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's tennis team won its sixth consecutive match with a 5-2 handling of Ohio State at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on Tuesday.
The 46th-ranked Lady Rebels (10-3) swept all but one of their singles matches in two sets against the 42nd-ranked Buckeyes (6-7), but dropped the doubles team point, as OSU won the top two courts.
UNLV's Cindy Treber and Mery Constanti were both perfect on the day, joining together for the Lady Rebels' only doubles win at Court Three, then finishing off their singles respective opponents in two sets. Treber had the most impressive singles victory in the lineup, stopping OSU's Jackie Keskovar in the No. 4 matchup, 6-0, 6-2, while Constanti was a 7-5, 6-3 winner over Kristin Messmer in the No. 6 slot.
Also claiming wins for UNLV in singles were No. 1 Gyorgyi Zsiros, No. 3 Anne Claire Ortiz-Luis and No. 5 Claire Smith.
The Rebels will ride their winning streak into conference play this weekend as both Utah and No. 25 BYU are on tap for a visit. Friday's match with Utah will begin at 2:00 p.m. while the Saturday date with the Cougars kicks off at 10:00 a.m.
