A Fine Nine

LAS VEGAS - The ninth-ranked UCLA women's tennis team defeated No. 43 UNLV 6-1 at the LA Tennis Center Wednesday.

The Lady Rebels fell to 11-5 while the Bruins improved to 13-5 with their fifth consecutive victory.

UCLA began the day by taking all three doubles matches for one team point, including escaping at the top spot with a 9-8 final.

In singles play, the hosts pushed their lead to 3-0 with 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 2 and No. 4. Despite putting up solid fights at No. 1 and No. 3, UNLV got its lone point when Mery Constanti won a super-tiebreaker over Shilpa Joshi on Court Six, 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8).

Having now closed its non-conference schedule at 10-4, the Lady Rebels will resume league action by traveling to take on rival San Diego State April 8.
