On the early start time of the game, which is set for 9:00 a.m. (PDT):
"If I was to pick, this is not the ideal time. We had an early kickoff at New Mexico but what was different about that was that we had a weekend and we could control their environment. We practiced in the morning on Saturday and we got them up early on Sunday (before playing New Mexico). This week we are going to give them a wake-up call and get them up Friday morning so their body clock is along that line."
On current UNLV defensive coordinator Vic Shealy, who coached the Air Force secondary for six seasons before coming to UNLV:
"I think it's a real positive. I think he understands their players and understands their approach and their psychological way they go about things. We are going to utilize him. And obviously he understands what they do schematically and knows their personnel."
On Air Force's passing game:
"They are an effective passing team. They don't throw a lot, but they are effective. It is all tied together with their run game. If there is too much safety support in the run game, that is when they play-action pass and throw it over your head."
On the win over San Diego State:
"I think the big thing is that we saw the results of playing hard and doing things right. There was some frustration there for a while and it was great to see our defense play really hard and create as many problems as we did for San Diego State's offense."
"It's huge for our confidence, hope and expectations. It comes at a really good time, because even though it doesn't apply this week, we have three out of the five remaining games at home, which I think is a real plus."
On the progress of the offense:
"We aren't going to change where we are going. We are going to stay the course and keep working to get better and be more efficient and be better in the red zone and be better with not turning the ball over.
"We have to keep working and be more detailed in the passing game and be more detailed with quarterback Jarrod Jackson and do a better job in depth with our routes and everything we are doing."
