UNLV Creeps Up Leaderboard

REDMOND, Wash. - The UNLV women's golf team took advantage of a difficult scoring day, posting the third-lowest round of the day to move into third place after the second round of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational held at the Sahalee Country Club on Tuesday.

The Rebels combined to card a 301 as a team (+13) on a day when 10 of the 14 team field shot at least 20-over par on the day. Through two rounds UNLV has a total of 607 (+31) and is 12 strokes behind Arizona State, which has a total of 595 (+19) heading into Wednesday's final round. Pepperdine, which led after the first round, is in second with a total of 601 (+19)

Da Sol Chung, Elena Kurokawa and Grace Woo all had solid rounds Tuesday and are in the top 15, with Chung sitting in second place after rolling in a three-over par 75 for a two-day total of 147 (+3). She is five strokes behind Jennifer Osborn of Arizona State, who is the clubhouse leader with a two-round score of 142 (-2) after she managed one of only two sub-par rounds of the day. Osborn carded a three-under 69 to move into the lead. Jessica Potter of San Francisco turned in the day's only other sub-par round with a 71 (-1).

Kurokawa made a big leap up the leaderboard, finishing the second round in a tie for sixth place after she shot a one-over par 74 for a two day total of 150 (+6). The senior, who started Tuesday tied for 25th, has finished in the top 10 in six of the last seven tournaments she has played in dating back to last season. Woo also cracked the top 15, as the freshman has a two-round total of 151 (+7) after she carded a one-over-par 76 in Tuesday's second round and is tied for 11th.

Seema Sadekar is in tied for 47th place (79-80 -- 159, +15) and Allison Chell is in tied for 69th place (81-90--171, +27) to round out the Rebel scores.

Wednesday's final round begins at 8:00 a.m. (PDT) at the par-72, 6,192-yard course.
