LAS VEGAS - The fourth annual UNLV Lady Rebel Classic kicks off Friday with eight teams, including four nationally ranked programs, competing at the Fertitta Tennis Complex over the weekend.
Squads from No. 15 Tulane, No. 21 Fresno State, No. 30 New Mexico, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Cal State Northridge and Northern Arizona will take on the 48th-ranked host Lady Rebels in a bracket format culminating in Sunday's championship at noon on campus.
First through eighth place will be determined by playing four matches a day running concurrently at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and at 9 a.m. and noon on Sunday. Admission to all tournament matches is free.
UNLV (1-0), which has not competed since Jan. 30, has won 34 of its last 39 matches at home, including an 11-2 mark last season. The Lady Rebels will open the tourney vs. NAU at 2 p.m. on Friday.
At last year's event, then-No. 14 Fresno State squeaked by No. 27 Tulane 4-3 in the final while UNLV earned third place with a 4-1 win over Washington State.
