COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Halima Decree won the 60 meters to help UNLV to a sixth-place finish Saturday at the Mountain West Conference Indoor Championships at Cadet Field House on the campus of Air Force.
DeCree crossed the finish line with a time of 7.46, one thousandth of a second faster than second-place finisher Janay DeLoach of Colorado State. DeCree was the only individual champion for the Rebels, who finished with 51 total team points.
BYU won the women's title with 188.50 points, followed by Colorado State (172), Wyoming (80), Utah (57.50), San Diego State (54), UNLV, New Mexico (31) and Air Force (29). BYU swept the team titles, as the Cougar men won with a total of 207 points while Colorado State finished a close second with 203.50 points.
Rebel senior Christine Spence, who had finished second in the pentathlon on Thursday, added a second place in the high jump, clearing 5'-10.00". Brittney Bullocks added a second as well in the 200 meters with a time of 24.67.
Miesha McClendon added a third-place in the 60 meter hurdles for the Rebels, crossing the finish line with a time of 8.52. Deanna Appuglise finished eighth in the 400 meters with a time of 57.35. UNLV's final points of the meet came from its 1600 meter relay team, which finished fifth with a time of 3:52.29.
Monique Humphries did not place in the weight throw but the freshman broke her school record for the third consecutive weekend with a toss of 54'2.50".
UNLV opens it outdoor season at the Jack Rose Invite in Long Beach, Calif., on March 5.
