LOS ANGELES - The 25th-ranked UCLA Bruins picked up their fourth shutout of the year with a 3-0 win over UNLV in men's collegiate soccer action on Sunday afternoon from Frank W. Marshall Field. With the loss, the Rebels fall to 2-6 on the season, their fourth straight defeat, while UCLA improves to 4-2.

Jonathan Bornstein was the star of the day, as he had a hand in all three scores. He began the scoring in the 29th minute, as he dribbled through the middle after a throw-in from Sal Zizzo, and his shot beat UNLV goalie Peter Clitheroe to the post for the 1-0 lead.

He then set up the next Bruin goal, sending a pass to Evan Corey, and his through ball down the right side to Kamani Hill resulted in Hill's second goal of the year in the 40th minute. Hill returned the favor in the second half, giving a pass to Bornstein, who then chipped a shot over Clitheroe from seven yards out for the third score of the day in the 61st minute.

The Bruins held a 17-5 edge on shots, including 6-0 in the second half. Lamar Neagle had four of the Rebels' five shots for the game. Clitheroe finished with seven saves and three goals allowed in 72 minutes of action, before Brett Hafeman finished the final 18 minutes. Eric Reed (four saves) and Nate Pena combined for the shutout for the Bruins.

UNLV will return to action on Sunday, as the Rebels will again be on the road, this time at Cal State Fullerton with a 2 pm start.
