LAS VEGAS - UNLV women's track and field team continues its outdoor season on Saturday, running in the ASU Invitational held at Joe Selleh Track at Sun Angel Stadium on the campus of Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz.
The hammer throw will take place tonight at 5:00 p.m. (PST) with the remaining field events starting at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning. The running events will start on the track at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday as well.
This will be the second meet of the outdoor season for head coach Barbara Ferrell-Edmonson's squad, which finished eighth in the Mountain West Conference indoor championships a month ago. The Rebels opened their outdoor season last weekend at the Aztec Classic in San Diego, Calif.
At that meet two Rebels won events, with Lekeisha Lawson winning the 100 meters and Katie Hughes claiming the 5,000 meter title. Both athletes will be running this weekend and will be in a field that includes host Arizona State, Ashland (Ohio), BYU, Central Arizona, Dartmouth, Missouri, Northern Arizona, Princeton, Purdue, UC Davis, Washington, Western State and Xavier (Ohio).
Other athletes who will be competing for the Rebels include Ashley Patin, who currently as the fastest 400 meter time in the Mountain West Conference, Lauren Johnson and Tanesha Carr in the sprints, Monique Humphries, Alayna Mills and Olivia Raya in the throws along with distance runner Jennifer Shearer.
