TEMPE, Ariz. - UNLV women's golf finished tied for sixth at the PING/ASU Invitational on Sunday, as the Rebels finished their third round on the par 72, 6,230-yard ASU Karsten Golf Course at Arizona State.
Freshman golfer Da Sol Chung led the Rebels, finishing tied for 12th place she played her final 18 holes at even par to finish at plus four on the tournament (72-76-72--220), marking the seventh time seven starts that she has finished a tournament in the top 20. Chung helped UNLV to a team total of 903 (290-317-296, +39) and the Rebels sixth-place finish was the squad's seventh top-6 finish this year.
UCLA won the team title by one stroke over host Arizona State, as the Bruins finished the tournament with an even-par 288 on Sunday for a three-round total of 865 (288-289-288, +1). ASU made a final round charge, shooting three-under as a team on Sunday, but fell just short with a three-round total of 866 (283-298-285, +2). Adriana Zwanck of Arizona won medalist honors with a 54-hole score of six-under 210 (69-73-68).
Seema Sadekar (74-79-72--225, +9) finished tied for 27th as the junior finished the tournament with an even-par round on Sunday. Elena Kurokawa was a spot behind, finishing tied for 30th (70-79-77--226, +10), Grace Woo tied for 66th (74-87-75--236, +20) and Young Pak tied 77th (76-83-83--242, +26) to round out the Rebel scorecard. Kasi Lee (76-83-87--246, +30), a freshman transfer, finished tied for 83rd in her third tournament with UNLV.
The Rebels will have no time to rest, as they head to St. George, Utah, for the 20th Annual BYU Dixie Classic, which is April 3-5 at Entrada at Snow Canyon. The course is the same venue where the Mountain West Conference Championships will be played at on April 20-22 and UNLV has won the last two MWC Tournament titles.
