Final Stats

LAS VEGAS - In game two of the Mountain West Softball Tournament, the No. 4 seed UNLV Rebels (25-35) defeated the No. 5 seed Colorado State Rams (26-25), 5-4, behind Bri Bernardi's solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning that broke a 4-4 tie. With the victory the Rebels advance to the Thursday, 7 p.m. (PST) game against the No. 1 seed San Diego State Aztecs, while the Rams will play the loser of the No. 2 BYU/No. 3 Utah game on Friday, May 12 at 2 p.m.

CSU scored the first two runs of the game, pushing a pair across the plate in the top of the first inning for an early 2-0 lead. Julia Kloppe hit a run-scoring single and Lauren Cusick hit a sacrifice fly later in the inning that scored Kloppe.

UNLV scored the next four runs of the game to move ahead 4-2 through three innings. The Rebels pulled within one on a sacrifice fly by Brittany Freight and then knotted the game at two in the second inning on a Caitlyn Paus solo home run to left field. It was the sixth home run of the year for Paus.

UNLV took its first lead of the game in the bottom of the third inning, getting a run-scoring single from Kendall Fearn and a Rosa Ordaz sacrifice fly that made the score 4-2.

CSU battled back to tie the score in the top of the fourth, scoring two unearned runs in the inning on three UNLV errors before Bernardi hit the game-winning home run in the bottom of the frame. It was Bernardi's third home run of the year.

The Rebels' Shannon Crisp (10-16) worked the final six innings of the game to pick up the win, allowing just two runs, both unearned while striking out four. The Rams' Kim Klabough (14-8) was charged with the loss, as she gave up Bernardi's home run in the fourth.
