LAS VEGAS - Former UNLV running back Larry Croom will lead his team into NFL Europe's World Bowl this weekend and Rebel fans can watch the game live.
Croom, a native of Long Beach, Calif., is a member of the Amsterdam Admirals (7-3) who will take on the Frankfurt Galaxy (7-3) at LTV Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany. NFL Network will present exclusive live coverage of World Bowl XIV on Saturday at 9 a.m. PDT. This marks the first time NFL Network will carry NFL Europe's championship game live.
Croom leads NFL Europe in rushing touchdowns with six and is fourth in the league in rushing yards with 427. The former Arizona Cardinal, who camped with the Tennessee Titans last summer and went on to spend part of last season on the practice squad of the Detroit Lions, was allocated to Europe by his current team, the San Diego Chargers, who signed him January 12. It is Croom's second go-round in NFL Europe after playing last season with the Hamburg Sea Devils.
A two-year letterman at UNLV, Croom became the first Rebel in history to play in three postseason all-star games and scored at least one touchdown in each. As a senior in 2003, he led the Rebels and was fourth in the MWC and 48th in the nation with 932 yards despite missing significant time because of injury.
Former Rebel All-American safety Jamaal Brimmer also played in NFL Europe this season after being allocated by the New York Giants, who signed the Las Vegas native on January 23. Brimmer had 28 tackles and one interception for the Berlin Thunder before suffering an injury.
