LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's golf team was ranked 13th in the nation in Golf World's preseason College Coaches Poll, which was released on Thursday.
Oklahoma State received 13 first-place votes and is the top-ranked team with 373 points. UCLA was the only other school to receive first-place votes (2) and comes in at No. 2 with 350 points. Georgia follows in third (348), Clemson is fourth (294) and Georgia Tech rounds out the top five (282).
Florida is sixth (248), followed by Texas A&M (237), Wake Forest (187), Kentucky (180), Arizona State (172), Lamar (162), BYU (160) and UNLV (158).
UNLV, which enters its 20th season under head coach Dwaine Knight, will open the 2006-07 season at the Iverness Intercollegiate Invitational in Toledo, Ohio on Sept. 11. The squad returns nine letterwinners and is coming off a 19th place finish at last year's NCAA Championships.
