LAS VEGAS - Junior forward Lamar Neagle scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season three minutes into the second overtime to give the UNLV men's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Air Force in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opener for both teams on Friday night from Peter Johann Memorial Field.

The Rebels have now won three straight games for the first time since the 2004 season to improve to 5-3-2 on the year, while their four-game unbeaten streak is the longest since 2002 UNLV is also alone in first place in the MPSF, after New Mexico and Denver finished in a tie on the first night of the conference season.

UNLV held the advantage on offense for the majority of the game, holding a 15-7 edge on shots, including 12-6 in regulation, but Air Force played strong defense, keyed by its goalkeeper Brian Guyette, who finished with seven saves. He had no chance on the final play of the game however, as with the Falcons on the attack, defender Mason Trafford intercepted a pass, and sent a high ball back towards the Air Force half of the field. The ball landed in front of Neagle as the Rebels all of a sudden had a two-on-one fast break, and he dribbled unmarked straight into the box before unleashing a hard shot high to the left top corner of the goal for the score in the 103rd minute. The goal was Neagle's second game-winner of the year, and second golden goal in his career.

Calvin Bailey earned the shutout for the Rebels, making two saves. He also earned his third shutout of the season and third consecutive, marking the first time in 18 years UNLV has blanked three straight opponents. UNLV last recorded three straight shutouts over the last game of the 1989 season and first two of the 1990 season.

The Rebels continue MPSF play on Sunday, hosting Denver at 1:30 pm at Peter Johann Field.
