LAS VEGAS - The UNLV swimming and diving program is well represented this summer on the international scene, highlighted by three Rebels participating in last week's Pan American Games.
Richard Hortness, alumni Joe Bartoch, and incoming freshman Kier Maitland all swam in Rio de Janero last week. Hortness, swimming for Canada, participated in the 50 and 100m freestyles, and helped the 4x100m freestyle relay to a fourth-place finish. Bartoch, also swam for Canada, and placed sixth in the 100m fly in 53.18, while also participating in the 50m free. Maitland meanwhile placed fifth in the 400m free in 3:57.61, and swam in the 1500m free as well.
They aren't the only Rebels to see competition this summer, as Marina Sandback, Tamas Bosynak, Jonas Andersson, Johan Claar, and John Byers are all swimming in the Swedish Nationals this week. Participating in the US National Championships, held July 31-August 4, will be Brandon Nelms, Tiger Christian, Kim Bonney, Amanda Weinbrecht, Bailey Kuestermeyer, Jenna Neff, Megan Hunt-Higgins, Lani Seaman, and incoming freshmen David Seiler, and Hiro Tanaka.
