LAS VEGAS - The 43rd-ranked UNLV women's tennis team improved its January record to 12-0 since 2002 with a 6-1 win over New Mexico State on Saturday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Lady Rebels (2-0) opened play by sweeping three doubles matches. Elena Gantcheva and Kristina Nedeltcheva won 8-3 at No. 1, Katy Williams and freshman Anna Maskaljun got an 8-5 victory at No. 2 and Sharon Marin and Nikol Dimitrova won 8-4 on court three.

Gantcheva, ranked 30th in the nation, rolled 6-4, 6-1 in singles over Sophia Marks. Nedeltcheva swept her opponent 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2, Williams rallied using a super-tiebreaker to emerge 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9) at No. 3, Maskaljun notched a quick 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 5 and freshman Adrienn Hidvegi won 6-2, 6-4 on court six.
