TUCSON, Ariz. - The UNLV women's golf team shot 28-over-par 312 on Wednesday during the final round of the Wildcat Invitational and finished in 16th place at Arizona National Golf Club (par 71, 6,166 yards).
UNLV finished the tournament with a 54-hole total of 951. Oklahoma State won the tournament with a three-round total of 884 after shooting 14-over 298 during the final round. USC and Duke tied for second at 34-over for the tournament, two shots back of the Cowgirls, while Arizona finished fourth at 47-over and Arizona State finished fifth at 49-over.
The Rebels were led by Therese Koelbaek, who tied for 34th at 16-over 229 after shooting a final-round 2-over 73. Duke's Amanda Blumenherst won medalist honors at even-par 213 for the tournament. She finished up with a final-round 2-over 73. Two golfers tied for second at 3-over 216.
Other Rebel final-round scores, places and tournament totals: Alejandra Guacaneme (86, T65th, 28-over 241), Tonya Choate (78, T73rd, 33-over 246), Kasi Lee (83, T73rd, 33-over 246), Nicole McGirr (84, T73rd, 33-over 246) and Melissa Mabanta (78, T77th, 35-over 248).
The Wildcat Invitational featured one of the top fields of any event in the country with no less than seven of 16 teams ranked in Golfweek's top 10. The tournament included teams No. 1-4 in the country in UCLA, Duke, Arizona State and USC. Other top-10 teams included No. 7 Auburn, No. 8 Arizona and No. 9 Cal. In all, 12 teams that competed in the event were ranked in the top 25.
