Final Stats

FORT WORTH, Texas - UNLV baseball was held to just two hits in a 12-1 loss against TCU on Saturday afternoon at Lupton Stadium in a game televised by The Mtn.

UNLV dropped to 14-18 overall on the year and 5-6 Mountain West Conference games, with Corey Hales (4-2) taking the loss, as he gave up six runs on eight hits in 3.1 innings on the mound. TCU, which has now won eight straight following a 7-6 loss to the Rebels in Las Vegas on March 30, improved to 22-12 overall and 7-4 in league play, with Sean Hoelscher (3-2) picking up the win. Hoelscher worked seven innings and gave up just one hit, which came with two outs in the seventh inning.

Braden Walker broke up the no-hitter with a single with two outs, which moved Scotty Berke to third, who had drawn a walk a batter earlier. Berke would then score UNLV's lone run of the game on a throwing error, making it an 8-1 advantage for TCU. Rance Roundy had the Rebels' only other hit on the afternoon.

The Horned Frogs jumped all over Hales, scoring a run in the first, two in the third and then chased him by scoring three runs in the fourth. Chris Ellington had three RBI for the Horned Frogs while Matt Carpenter hit a pair of solo home runs.

UNLV and TCU finish their series tomorrow, with the game set to start at 11:00 a.m. (PT) at Lupton Stadium in Fort Worth. The game can be heard live on 1400 KSHP AM.
