LAS VEGAS - Two-a-days are a thing of the past for UNLV football, at least for this year as the Rebels conducted a pair of practices at Rebel Park on Thursday.
The morning session was devoted primarily to special teams while the evening was a brisk 16-period affair that focused more on preparing for the home opener against Utah State on Aug. 30.
"We had two very good practices today, and tonight's practice had a lot of intensity," UNLV head coach Mike Sanford said.
UNLV will now hold single practices as the team settles into their regular routine, and with just seven practices left, the Rebels are well into installing their game plan for the Aggies.
"Each day we are putting in more and more of the Utah State game plan," Sanford said. "Yesterday and today we really started focusing on that and getting ready for the home opener."
THE NEW MEN IN BLACK
Junior defensive back Daryl Forte (Culver City, CA/Culver City HS) and junior wide receiver Jerriman Robinson (Rialto, CA/Rialto HS/Texas Southern) were wearing the Black Jersey on Thursday night. It marked the first time this camp that either of them had earned the garb.
