LAS VEGAS - A conference record-setting performance by UNLV freshman Zsuzsanna Jakabos sparked the Rebels to a 20-point win on the women's side, while the UNLV men won their 11th meet of the season as the Rebels men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept a dual meet against UC Santa Barbara on Saturday afternoon in Buchanan Natatorium. The UNLV women won 141-121 to improve to 11-5 overall, while the UNLV men finished their dual meet season with a 169-93 win to improve to 11-1 for the year.

Jakabos won three individual events on the day but the highlight was her swim in the 400 IM, as she broke the oldest school record on the books with a new Mountain West Conference record time of 4:18.46. That topped Wendy Myers' time of 4:19.51, set during the 1987-88 season. Her winning time of 2:01.05 also set a new school record in the 200 fly, and she won the 500 free in 5:00.93.

Amanda Weinbrecht was another triple-winner for the UNLV women, as on her senior day she won the 100 back (56.18), the 200 back (2:02.01) and the 100 fly (56.15). The Rebels' other senior, Bailey Kuestermeyer, won the day's first individual event, claiming the 1000 free in a time of 10:20.71. Also winning an event was freshman Friderika Szel in the 200 free (1:51.77),

On the men's side, UNLV won 11 of 14 events to cruised to the victory, and eight Rebels won at least one event each. Kier Maitland was a double-event winning, as he took both the 500 free (4:29.20) and the 1000 free (9:18.66). The other wins for UNLV were by Kyle Virva in the 200 free (1:40.47), Andrew Morrell in the 100 breast (56.30), Daniel Egly in the 200 fly (1:51.03), Thomas Andolfsson in the 50 free (20.71), Charlie Tapp in the 100 free (46.14), Akos Molnar in the 200 breast (2:03.73) and David Seiler in the 100 fly (49.65). UNLV also won both relays, as Nick Blank, Morrell, Steven Nelms, and Andolfsson touched first in the 200 medley relay in 1:31.93. Nelms, Calan Eldridge, Tapp, and Andolfsson then closed out the meet by winning the 200 free relay in 1:21.66.

The Rebel men are now off until next month's MWC Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla., while the women will swim their final dual meet of the year on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 4 pm at New Mexico.
