ORLANDO - Two former UNLV defensive standouts turned in solid efforts at Saturday's East-West Shrine Game, which was played in the Florida Citrus Bowl for the first time in history.

Linebacker Jason Beauchamp (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS), who wore jersey No. 44 in the game, contributed three solo tackles, including one tackle for a loss of two yards. Tackle Martin Tevaseu (Boonville, CA/Santa Rosa JC), who wore No. 33, had a total of two tackles, one solo.

Tevaseu and Beauchamp were the first two Rebels to appear in the East-West since linebacker Adam Seward and wide receiver Earvin Johnson in 2004.

The UNLV players' efforts, however, were not enough to produce a victory for the West in what finished as the lowest-scoring Shrine game since 1992.

The East went on a last-minute drive and got into the end zone when Northwestern's Mike Kafka hit Penn State's Andrew Quarless from two yards out with just six seconds left to give their side a hard-fought 13-10 win.

The West was led offensively by former BYU quarterback Max Hall, who hit 7-12 of pass attempts for 119 yards and one score. Former Cougar tight end Dennis Pitta led the way with four catches for 72 yards.
