OWASSO, Okla. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team concluded play at the Dale McNamara Invitational hosted by the University of Tulsa at The Patriot Golf Club with a fifth place finish.
No. 20 Oklahoma took home the team title after finishing the week with a 13-over par score of 877. No. 24 Oklahoma State and No. 33 Texas tied for second at 36-over par while the host institute and 41st-ranked Tulsa edged the Rebels for fourth place, finishing two strokes ahead at 39-over par.
Therese Koelbaek collected her third straight, three-place finish this season with a 2-over par effort for the week. Oklahoma's Ellen Mueller took home medalist honors with a blistering 7-under par, 209 total. Kristina Merkle of Tulsa finished two strokes ahead of Koelbaek in second at even par while Taylor Schmidt of Oklahoma matched the senior Rebel's 2-over par tournament to tie for third.
Kristen Schelling carded a 4-over par round of 76 on the final day, marking the first top-10 finish of the season for the junior.
Alejandra Guacaneme started the day in a tie for 33rd place, but moved up to 25th by the end of the final round with a 4-over par 76 effort. Ellis Keenan finished tied for 51st in her first tournament of the season while Katerina Prorokova tied for 55th, finishing 23-over par for the tournament.
UNLV will be back in action, concluding the fall portion of the 2010-11 schedule, hosting the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown Oct. 25-27 in Boulder City, Nev.
