LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV baseball team has set dates for its two-game fall Scarlet and Black World Series announced first-year head coach Tim Chambers.
"We're winding down in the fall now," said Chambers. "The kids have been competing all fall and we've really had the best workouts the last week or so. We want to see them go out and compete. We have battles going on everywhere, behind the plate, in the middle of the field and in the outfield so that keeps everyone's intensity going."
The Rebels will kick-off action tomorrow, Nov. 12 with Game 1 at 10 a.m. at Wilson Stadium. Game 2 will be played the following Friday, Nov. 19th at 10 a.m. as well.
The Scarlet and Black teams were selected by captains Richie Jimenez and Hunter Beaty. Jimenez's Scarlet squad includes pitchers Tanner Peters, Tyler Iodence, Zach Hartman, Nick Libonati, Cory Ginther, Justin Baca, David Carter and Thomas Whitesett.
"It will be a great series," said Jimenez. "I am an attitude guy, and when I picked my team I wanted those guys that are bouncing around and keep good, positive energy flowing out there. I have some speedy guys on my team and know that we all want to go out there and win."
Scott Dysinger, Cash Thomas, Cory Welch, Reminton Pullin, Travis Feiner, Marvin Campbell, Casey Sato, Craig Shul, Bobby Johnson and Remington Wilson comprise the position players for Team Scarlet.
Beaty is joined by Danny Higa, Brandon Bayardi, Trevor Kirk, Ryan Scott, Trent Cook, Scott Berke, Rance Roundy and Adam Koglin in the field. Team Black's pitching staff consists of Joe Robinson, Jesse Garcia, Brandon Rainford, Buddy Borden, Max Javate, Aaron Asato, Brady Zuniga, Gentry Croft and Trevor Clausen.
"I wanted to have good pitching when setting up my team," said Beaty. "However the teams were split doesn't matter, I think we all have the confidence to go out there and win. We're all leaders on this team."
