LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com)
- The UNLV baseball team continued its Scarlet and Black fall World Series with a 2-2 tie in Game 3 here at Wilson Stadium today.

Following two games with loads of offense, today's contest featured a dual on the hill as the two teams combined for just nine hits and four runs on the day.

After a stellar performance in Game 1, Scarlet starting pitcher Tanner Peters had a shaky first, giving up two runs to Team Black, but settled down, giving up just one hit over the following three innings. Peters went four innings, giving up three hits and two runs while striking out five.

Not to be outdone was Team Black starter Joe Robinson. Robinson threw four innings, striking out four and giving up four hits and two runs - both of which were unearned and stemmed from fielding woes. Max Javate chipped in as well for Team Black, throwing three innings of hitless ball while striking out four.

Team Black posted a pair of runs in the first after Trevor Kirk scored on a wild pitch and Daniel Higa crossed the plate on a Trent Cook RBI groundout.

Following two scoreless innings, Team Scarlet knotted the game at 2-2 in the top of the fourth with clutch base-running. Back-to-back singles from Travis Feiner and Richie Jimenez started the inning. With two on, Jimenez seemed to be caught in a run down until Hunter Beaty's errant throw allowed Feiner to score and Jimenez to make his way to third. Remington Wilson walked to put runners on the corners and induced another run down, allowing Jimenez to score and tie the game.

Each team would have one more scoring opportunity in the game. Scarlet's Cash Thomas walked and stole second in the fifth, but was stranded after Marvin Campbell grounded out to second to end the inning.

Rance Roundy singled to start the seventh for Team Black. Ryan Scott laid down a perfect bunt that snuck past a diving Feiner, giving Team Black runners on first and second with no outs. After Craig Shul struck out, Cory Ginther was able to get Adam Koglin to ground into the game-ending 4-6-3 double play. Ginther allowed just two hits over three innings, striking out two along the way for Team Scarlet.

Both teams were credited with a win, setting up a winner-take-all contest tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. at Wilson Stadium.
