Final Stats
LOS ANGELES - Paced by its 4x100 meter relay squad, the UNLV women's track and field team finished in the top 10 overall at the Cal-Nevada Championships, which wrapped up Sunday at Drake Stadium on the campus of UCLA.
The Rebels finished eighth overall in the team standings with 45 total points, the most scored by a collegiate team from the state of Nevada in the meet made up solely of programs from the Silver and Golden States. Cal State Northridge won the women's team title with 98 points, followed by Cal State Northridge and San Diego State, which each had 84 points.
Comprised of Chauncey David-Jacobs, Shahnel Woodley, Candise Maxwell and Emily Blok, the 4x100 relay team clocked a season-best time of 45.51 to win the event. David-Jacobs and Woodley added top-10 finishes in two events each as well.
Woodley took home top honors in the 100 meters with a time of 11.95, and then added a second-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 24.22. David-Jacobs meanwhile posted two seventh-place finishes, running a time of 24.60 in the 200 meters and 55.72 in the 400 meters.
UNLV freshman Kelsey Williamson cruised to a sixth-place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 55.69, and she was part of the 4x400 relay team that finished in sixth place with a time of 3:49.23. She was joined on the relay team by Jennifer Johnson, Brett Zorich and Lindsay Roach.
In the field events, Deja Edwards finished 10th in the triple jump with a distance of 38-11.00, and Stephanie Schafer was just outside of the top-10 in the high jump, clearing 5-4.25, which was good for 11th. Also on Saturday, a pair of Rebels also finished in the top 10 in the hammer, as sophomore Amanda Bingson's toss of 180-4.00 earned her fifth, while LaShante Ellison turned in a personal-best of 167-9.00, good for ninth.
UNLV will take next weekend off and then travel to the Sun Angel Track Classic on April 7-8 in Tempe, Ariz., at Sun Angel Stadium.
