LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Action closed Sunday at the UNLV Women's Tennis Fall Invitational at the Fertitta Tennis Complex but not before the hosts posted another upset over a ranked opponent.

The UNLV duo of Nives Pavlovic and Aleksandra Josifoska won the Flight One Doubles Championship with an 8-4 victory over 50th-ranked Elizabeth Begley and Aerial Ellis of Texas, 8-4.

The Longhorns, however, did win two other doubles finals over Lady Rebel teams, including 9-8 in the Flight Two ender.

In singles, UNLV decided not to play out the final in three of the four flights because Lady Rebel players were on both sides of the net. That meant freshmen Lucia Batta and Josifoska became co-champions of the top flight, Anna Maskaljun and Adrienn Hidvegi shared honors in Flight Three, as did Ella Bourchier and Rumyana Terzieva in Flight Four.

"I feel very good about the way we competed this weekend," said UNLV head coach Kevin Cory. "We had some really good showings. It was great to see Aleks and Nives beat a ranked opponent from Texas to win the doubles championship. We'll take this as an indicator that UNLV will have a lot of good things happen this season."

Next up, three members of the team will compete in the prequalifying or qualifying rounds of next weekend's ITA/Riviera Women's All-American Championships in California.
