LAS VEGAS - USC's Maria Sanchez won both the singles and doubles titles Sunday to wrap up the ninth annual Freeman Memorial Tennis Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
Sanchez, ranked third in the nation, swept Florida's 22nd-ranked Olivia Janowicz 6-3, 6-0 in the singles final. Sanchez and partner Kaitlyn Christian, ranked 80th, doubled up McCall Jones and Maya Johansson of UCLA 8-4 to win the doubles crown earlier in the day.
Host UNLV now looks forward to opening its dual-match season at home on Friday at 10 a.m. vs. New Mexico State. Admission is free of charge.
