TEMPE, Ariz. - The UNLV swimming and diving teams both dropped dual meets at Arizona on Friday afternoon. The Rebel men (1-1) lost by a 208.5-84.5 score, while UNLV's women (0-2) were defeated by a score of 206.5-88.5.
The Rebels won a total of five events on the day, three on the men's side, and two on the women. Leading the men was freshman Matt Roe, who touched first in the 1000 free in a time of 9:35.05, and also added a second-place finish in the 500 free in 4:40.55. Balint Batka took the 200 fly in a time of 1:51.06, while Tyler Bush tied for first in the 200 free (1:43.01). Posting second-place swims was Cody Roberts in the 100 fly (49.12) and Giacomo Gremizzi in the 400 IM (4:08.28).
For the women, Katelyne Herrington tied for first in the 100 fly with a swim of 56.71. The other win came from Mariah Skeen on the 1-meter diving off a score of 287.70. Two Rebels earned second-place finishes, Jessica Marsh in the 500 free (5:03.62) and Erin Cox in the 400 IM (4:35.72).
UNLV will swim again on Saturday in a dual meet at Arizona State in Tempe, starting at 11 am.
