LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the first day of action on Saturday in the UNLV Winter Invitational, with the 19th-ranked Rebel men winning three events, while the women posted four second-place swims. Team scores were not available. The three-day meet, held at Buchanan Natatorium, continues on Sunday before concluding on Monday.

UNLV won both men's relays, as Steven Nelms, Charlie Tapp, Cody Roberts and Guilherme Passos posted a winning time of 1:21.48 in the 200 free relay. The 400 medley relay squad of Coleman Allen, Wernher Deen, Roberts and Nelms touched the wall in first place with a 3:24.30 time. The other win came from Balint Batka, on a time of 4:33.89 in the 500 free. Batka also placed second in the 200 IM.

Jessica Marsh was one of two Rebel women to post a runner-up finish, swimming the 500 free in a time of 4:59.86. Rachel Dixon was also runner-up in the 50 free in 23.76. The 200 free relay team of Hillary Ego, Carmen Robb, Margot Monmousseau and Dixon was second in 1:35.27, and Brittany Ozar, Natalie Sanchez, Emma Gustafsson and Marsh turned in a second-place time of 3:53.25 in the 400 medley relay.
