LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's tennis team shut out UC Riverside 7-0 in the first of its two matches Saturday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Rebels improved to 7-3 on the season while the Highlanders fell to 1-8.
The hosts opened a 1-0 lead by taking all three doubles matches: Mehdi Bouras and Bernard Schoeman combined for an 8-6 victory at the top spot; Tamas Batyi and Willie Sublette won 8-5 at No. 2; and Alex Bull and Kasper Konyves prevailed 8-1 on court three.
UNLV also did not lose a set in singles play. Bouras downed Quoc Doan 6-4, 6-4 at the top position; Batyi swept Felix Macherez 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2; Schoeman won 7-6, 6-2 over Austin Andres at No. 3; Bull won 6-1, 6-0 over Ryan Stanbury at No. 4; Konyves swept Kevin Griffin 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5; and Charlie Alvarado downed Sean Peterson 6-0, 6-1 on court six.
UNLV was scheduled to face Idaho State later in the day.
