LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's tennis team lost 4-3 for the second straight outing late Sunday as No. 52 UC Irvine escaped with the one-point win at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Rebels dropped to 8-5 while the Anteaters won their sixth straight to improve to 7-4.

Unlike Friday's 4-3 loss to Oklahoma State, UNLV opened up by winning the doubles for a 1-0 lead. Tamas Batyi and Kasper Konyves doubled up Sam Gould and Steven Henderson 8-4 at the second position while Alex Bull and Rene Ruegamer prevailed 9-8 over Jon Kazarian and Fabian Matthews on court three to secure the point.

In singles, the Rebels saw their top player get another ranked win as No. 76 Mehdi Bouras outlasted No. 59 Chris Kearney 7-6, 7-6. The hosts' other point came on court five where Bull blanked Ryan Mayer 6-0, 6-0. With the score eventually tied at 3, Sam Gould clinched it for the `Eaters with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 victory over Batyi at the second spot.

UNLV returns to action on Friday when it hosts Fresno State beginning with doubles play at 10 a.m. Admission to all UNLV tennis matches is free of charge.
