Rookie Rings Up Award

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV freshman Lucia Batta has been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week. She is third Lady Rebel to be so honored this season, joining Jana Albers and Aleksandra Josifoska.

Batta, out of Budapest, Hungary, and ranked 89th nationally in singles, went a combined 5-1 last weekend in singles and doubles. Playing at the top of the lineup, her singles results included an upset of 63rd-ranked Monica Arguello during the Lady Rebels' victory over Furman on Sunday. Playing at No. 2 doubles, she and partner Anna Maskaljun went 3-0.

Batta is a team-leading 20-7 in singles and 15-5 in doubles as a rookie.

The UNLV women's team (11-4) returns to action on April 1 when it opens MWC play by hosting Wyoming.
