CLAREMONT, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Rebel track and field team finished sixth with a total of 64.50 points at the two-day Cal-Nevada Championships Sunday afternoon in Claremont, Calif. UNLV's track contingent placed 10 times in eighth or better, including victories in the long jump and the 4x400m relay.
Deja Edwards finished first in the long jump Saturday night with a distance of 19-7.50 (5.98m).
The 4x400m relay quartet of Lindsay Roach, Brett Zorich, Emily Blok and Kelsey Williamson finished nearly three seconds faster than its closest competitor Sunday. The relay squad had a time of 3:42.93, which bested the foursome from Cal State Dominguez Hills (3:45.11).
Blok and Roach teamed up with Davina Collins and Secoral Yanez for a fifth-place showing in the 4x100m relay with a time of 46.75.
Four student-athletes (Alison Bartosch, Zorich, Blok and Williamson) performed well in their respective preliminary rounds Saturday night to advance to Sunday's finals.
In the 800m run, Bartosch legged out a time of 2:11.26 for second, while Zorich came in third in a time frame of 2:11.77.
Blok fared well in the 100m and 200m races, as she was third (11.86) and fourth (24.14), respectively.
Williamson was sixth overall in the 400m run and finished with a time of 56.33.
In the high jump, Ashley Henry and Stephanie Schafer placed fifth and eighth, respectively, with measurements of 5-5.00 (1.65m) and 5-3.50 (1.60m).
