MWC Honor For Rookie Rebel

April 13, 2011

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV freshman standout Aleksandra Josifoska has won her second Mountain West Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week award, the league announced Wednesday.

Josifoska, who also won the honor on Feb. 23, went a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles last week, including taking the clinching match vs. league-rival TCU in Albuquerque, N.M. Playing No. 2 singles on Friday, the native of Skopje, Macedonia, rallied after losing the first set to down Gaby Mastromarino, 0-6, 7-5, 6-1, to give the Lady Rebels a 4-3 win over the Horned Frogs. She then won vs. New Mexico and teamed with doubles partner Nives Pavlovic for a pair of victories.

Josifoska is a combined 21-3 on the season, including a head-turning 16-1 in dual matches this spring.

The 43rd-ranked Lady Rebels (16-4 overall/5-0 MWC) head to San Diego this week for three key three matches, starting with Utah on Friday.
